Mayor’s Message

Mayor Randy Greenlaw

On behalf of Council and Township staff, welcome to the Township of Oro-Medonte.

Oro-Medonte is a rural jewel located less than one hour north of Toronto, nestled between the cities of Barrie and Orillia, with direct access to Highways 11, 12 and 400.  The community is diverse, with a distinctive landscape from lakes to hilltops, and forest to fields; offering a lifestyle that is attractive to outdoor enthusiasts, families, retirees, and people living independently.

The Township is also home to the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport; one of the newest and best positioned regional airport facilities in Canada, that is fully serviced by the Canada Border Service Agency, and maintains a Commercial Port-Of-Entry status.

Residents are within a short drive to access a wide variety of innovative educational opportunities offered by Georgian College and Lakehead University.  Health care services that include two modern hospitals are equally accessible.

Different home styles of varying sizes are available in Oro-Medonte.  Everything from traditional neighbourhoods, to farmland homes, can be found in the Township.  The rural fabric of the community is strong, demonstrated by a sense of genuine pride.  Oro-Medonte residents enjoy a warm and welcoming community with neighbours’ willing to lend a hand.

History and quality of life continues to flourish through a long standing tradition of fully engaged creative and enthusiastic community volunteers.

Recreational opportunities are endless throughout the Township from the waters of Lake Simcoe on the south, to the scenic hills of the Oro-Moraine in the north.

The Oro-Medonte Rail Trail is surrounded by a well-maintained parks system, providing an opportunity to safely enjoy countless vistas.  Cyclists experience endless kilometers of paved roads throughout the Township; some of which wind through perfect resting areas with businesses offering culinary and boutique options.

Whether you love to ski, boat, cycle, hike, visit secluded artisan studios or enjoy easily accessible stunning scenery, Oro-Medonte truly is a four season destination.

Leading and planning for the future requires thoughtful leadership and stewardship by taking a balanced approach to issues of development, while preserving our rural cultural heritage, and protecting our natural beauty.

It is the people of this community that are our greatest asset, and that makes us unique.

Thank you for visiting our website - we would be pleased to welcome you in person!

Kind regards,

Mayor Randy Greenlaw
