Role of the Clerk
- To record, without note or comment, all resolutions, decisions and other proceedings of the council;
- If required by any member present at a vote, to record the name and vote of every member voting on any matter or question;
- To keep the originals or copies of all by-laws and of all minutes of the proceedings of the council;
- To perform the other duties required under this Act or under any other Act; and
- To perform such other duties as are assigned by the municipality.
In addition to the statutory duties, the Clerk's Office is responsible for:
- Preparation and circulation of agendas, minutes and related materials for Council and its Advisory Bodies
- Administering legislative requirements pursuant to various Acts
- Processing and issuing Lottery Licenses
- Administering the Corporate Records Management Program
- Administering requests to purchase Township owned lands
Temporary Liquor License Patio Extension
The Government of Ontario has amended Regulation 746/21 under the Liquor License and Control Act, 2019 establishing a new framework for temporary outdoor physical extensions (temporary patios), which took effect on January 1, 2023. Effective January 1, 2023, individual municipalities and First Nations Band Councils:
- Have the authority to approve temporary patios for up to eight months total in a calendar year (does not need to be eight consecutive months) for liquor sales licensees and by-the-glass endorsement holders;
- Have the option to approve for less than eight months, if they wish;
- Have the authority to specify conditions on the approval.
