Rules
- The Ontario Recreation Facilities Association and the Township of Oro-Medonte strongly recommends all participants, especially children and new skaters, wear a CSA approved helmet, and glove protection is encouraged.
- Only participants wearing skates, or using a sledge are permitted on the ice. No other footwear shall be permitted on the ice.
- Participants are not permitted on the ice until the ice-resurfacer door is closed.
- Everyone must skate in the same direction. Public Skates may include a change in skating direction midway through the program. Staff will alert patrons of the change in direction by sounding the buzzer.
- No hockey pucks, sticks, balls, chairs, or baby carriers/strollers are allowed on the ice surface.
- No food or beverages allowed on the ice surface.
- Skate blades must stay at ice level. No backwards skating, hockey drills, figure skating jumps, carrying of children, racing, or playing of tag allowed.
- Any horseplay, including play fighting, or deliberate interference of other skaters may result in patrons being asked to leave the ice.
- The center of the ice will be reserved as a learn to skate zone. This area is reserved for those learning to skate, or with young children. The area should not be used to practice advanced skills.
- Designated dressing rooms, or the lobby are available for use during public skating times. Please refer to the electronic dressing room allocation board for which rooms to use.
- It is recommended that parents/guardians of children 12 years and under remain on-site and do not leave children unattended.
- Staff are on-site to enforce these rules to ensure a safe skating environment for all patrons. Staff have the authority to remove from the facility any person(s) not abiding by these rules.
