Online Public Information Centre (PIC)​

The consulting project team consisting of Georgian Communities and Stantec Consulting Ltd.​ will be holding a virtual online Public Information Centre (PIC) from April 22, 2021 until May 20, 2021​.

The purpose of the PIC is to provide an overview of the draft plan approved development within the Village of Craighurst, including the conceptual design layout, and how the Schedule B Municipal Class EA projects will be implemented through detailed design and construction as part of this new development.

In 2019, a Water, Wastewater and Transportation Master Plan (WWTMP) Craighurst Settlement Area was completed to identify a long-term municipal servicing plan for future development of the Craighurst and Horseshoe Valley Settlement Areas. The plan provided direction on the preferred solutions for implementation of water, wastewater and transportation infrastructure to accommodate future growth within the two settlement areas. The plan​​ identified three preferred solutions/projects relevant to the Craighurst Settlement Area that fall under the requirements of Schedule B projects of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process:

  • Improvements to water supply for existing residents and additional capacity to support growth
  • Construction of a new in-ground water storage and treatment facility
  • Construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant in Craighurst

The WWTMP successfully completed Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class EA process for these projects; and detailed design and construction may proceed.

The approved Draft Plan for development of lands within the Craighurst Secondary Plan area, located at the northeast corner of Penetanguishene Road and Horseshoe Valley Road, includes a mix of residential types, park and open space area, and future commercial and institutional uses. 

The Schedule B Municipal Class EA projects list above will be implemented as part of this new development.
