2019 Festival Information
In 2015, the Township began a sound monitoring program for large scale special events held at Burl's Creek Event Grounds. Based on information gathered, direction from Council, and findings to date, sound levels and times for all large scale events at Burl's Creek are included in the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), along with controls for enforcement. Sound monitoring will be ongoing, onsite at Burl's Creek throughout the 2019 festival season.
Township of Oro-Medonte Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will be monitoring sound levels to ensure compliance with the 2019 MOU. Compliance will be enforced by Township staff in accordance with the 2019 MOU. Any potential actions resulting from non-compliance pertaining to sound will be finalized before the expiry date of the MOU.
As part of the Township's Sound Management Process, residents have an opportunity to express sound concerns. For the 2019 festival season, the Township has established a dedicated telephone line for concerns regarding sound pertaining to large scale events held at Burl's Creek. Township Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will review all sound complaints received through the dedicated telephone line and e-mail address. Additionally, Municipal Law Enforcement Officer will attend locations onsite and offsite throughout the 2019 festival season to investigate concerns.
For sound level concerns, please leave a message at 705-487-4025 with your name, phone number, street address, time of call and brief description of your concern. Staff will investigate your concern and will return your call only where more information is required. For sound level concerns, please DO NOT call 9-1-1; 9-1-1 is for emergencies only.
