Vote Day is Monday, October 22, 2018
For the 2018 Municipal Election, Township of Oro-Medonte electors will have the following vote method options:
- Vote by Internet/Telephone: 24/7 access beginning on the first Advance Vote day right up until 8:00 p.m. on Vote Day, October 22, 2018.
- Vote by Traditional Paper Ballot: On all Advance Vote dates. Locations and Times TBC.
Important Information for the 2018 Municipal Election
Thursday, April 12, 2018
Ministry of Municipal Affairs representatives will present information and answer questions. Anyone interested in becoming a candidate in the upcoming election is encouraged to attend and learn more.
Session #1 - Township of Oro-Medonte, Council Chambers, 148 Line 7 South, Oro-Medonte - Thursday, April 12, 2018 - 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Session #2 - City of Orillia, Council Chambers, 50 Andrew St., S. Orillia - Thursday, April 12, 2018 - 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Nomination forms may be filed by candidates prior to Nomination Day, at any time when the Clerk’s Office is open (Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Registered Third Party Filing Period|
An individual, corporation or trade union that conducts advertising related to the 2018 municipal election must file as a Registered Third Party.
Tuesday, May 1, 2018 to Monday, December 31, 2018||
The campaign period begins once a candidate has filed a nomination form, and ends on December 31, 2018.
Friday, July 27, 2018||
Last day for filing nominations. Nomination forms filed on this date may only be filed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Monday, July 30, 2018||
If, at 4:00 p.m. on the Monday following Nomination Day, the number of certified candidates for an office is the same as or less than the number to be elected, the Clerk shall immediately declare the candidate or candidates elected by acclamation
Friday, August 31, 2018||
The Clerk shall make the preliminary list of voters available for election purposes only.
Saturday, September 1, 2018 to Monday, October 22, 2018||
Revision of Voters’ List – Application to Add, Remove or Correct One’s Own Name|
An individual may make application to the Clerk requesting that their name be added, removed or corrected. The application must be approved by the Clerk or their designate.
The dates, times and locations voting by Internet/Telephone OR Traditional Paper Ballot begin.
Monday, October 22, 2018||
Telephone and internet voting will close at 8:00 p.m. Traditionally, unofficial election results are released after 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, December 1, 2018 to Monday, November 14, 2022||
Term of Council|
The length of time the elected officials serve on Council.
Municipal Elections are governed by the
Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
Important changes have been made to the Municipal Elections Act for the 2018 Municipal Election, which includes a shortened Nomination Period and the addition of Registered Third Parties.
