Lottery Licensing
Municipalities are authorized to issue lottery licenses for raffles (ticket draws, elimination draws, 50/50 draws), and break-open tickets (Nevada tickets).
Regulations governing these events are established by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Only groups and purposes which are considered charitable under the AGCO regulations may obtain lottery licenses.
To determine eligibility, please review the information on the AGCO website at Eligibility. The AGCO website also contains descriptions of the various types of lottery events, and all required forms.
Lottery licensing fees are 3% of the prize value.
