Join us for a week of free activities designed by and for local youth! Whether you're looking to get creative, meet new people, share your ideas, compete in a tournament, or just hang out, there's something happening every day at the Simcoe Woods Community Centre.

Keychain Making Night

πŸ•’ 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Kick off Youth Takeover Week by getting creative! Design and make your own custom keychains using colourful pony beads, including classic bead lizards, animals, patterns, and more. No experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided.

What to Expect:

  • Free craft supplies
  • Bead lizard tutorials and inspiration
  • Take-home creations
  • Relaxed social atmosphere

Youth Open Forum

πŸ•’ 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Have ideas for programs, events, or activities you'd like to see in Oro-Medonte? We want to hear from you!

Join Recreation staff for an informal discussion about youth programming, community spaces, events, and opportunities. This is your chance to help shape future recreation offerings in the Township.

Discussion Topics May Include:

  • Sports and recreation programs
  • Drop-in opportunities
  • Teen events and social activities
  • Community spaces and facility improvements
  • Volunteer opportunities

Light refreshments will be available.

Cost: Free
Registration: Not required

3-on-3 Volleyball Tournament

πŸ•’ 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Gather your friends and hit the court for a fun and competitive evening of volleyball!

Teams will compete in a recreational 3-on-3 format. Whether you're an experienced player or just playing for fun, all skill levels are welcome.

Tournament Details

  • Teams consist of 3 players
  • Ages 12–17
  • Recreational round-robin format
  • Prizes awarded to the winning team
  • Sportsmanship and teamwork encouraged

Registration Information

Pre-registration is required.

There are two ways to register:

Option 1: Register as a Team

  • Select one team captain.
  • Team captain emails programmer Remy Slapsys rslapsys@oro-medonte.ca
    • Include the names of all teammates during registration.

Option 2: Register as an Individual

  • Register on your own and Recreation staff will place you on a team if space permits.

Registration Deadline: October 15th, 2026

Space is limited and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Pizza Night

πŸ•’ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Stop by the SWCC and enjoy a free slice (or two) while hanging out with friends and meeting other local youth.

Pizza will be available while supplies last.

Available Options:

  • Cheese
  • Pepperoni

Participants are welcome to stay, socialize, play games, and enjoy the community centre.

FREE Youth Open Gym

πŸ•’ 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

We're extending our regular Youth Open Gym hours to celebrate the end of Youth Takeover Week!

Drop in and enjoy a variety of sports and activities in the gymnasium. Recreation staff will have equipment available throughout the evening.

Activities May Include:

  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Dodgeball
  • Badminton
  • Group games and challenges

Come for the whole evening or drop in whenever works for you.

Registration: Not required

Youth ages 12–17 are welcome to participate in Youth Takeover Week activities.

No. Everyone within the eligible age range is welcome to attend.

All Youth Takeover Week activities are completely FREE.

For active programs, please wear comfortable clothing and indoor athletic shoes. Water bottles are encouraged.
