Recreational Programs

The Township of Oro-Medonte offers a variety of programs for pre-school, children, and adults throughout the year. Recreation guides are available for viewing during the four seasons; Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Program registration information will be posted onto this webpage prior to the registration period opening.

The Township of Oro-Medonte is opening current fitness classes for drop‑in participation beginning Saturday, January 31st. Below, classes with available drop‑in capacity are listed by date.

Please Note: Drop‑in participants are not guaranteed a spot in the class. Attendance is offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis.For pricing information, please refer to Drop‑in Fees: Single Admission & 10‑Punch Passes.

Drop-In Ages and Details

Adult Drop-Ins (18+): Pickleball, Basketball, Volleyball and Badminton

Senior Drop-Ins (55+): Pickleball

Preschool Open Gym (Ages 0-5): Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult (16+) is required. Supervising adults are free and can attend with a maximum of 3 participants.

Family Pickleball (Ages 5+): A participating adult (16+) is required. Maximum of 3 participants per guardian. Guardians must pay the program fee.

Youth Basketball & Open Gym (Ages 12-17): Open to teens only.

Family Open Gym (Ages 6+): A participating adult (16+) is required. Maximum of 3 participants per guardian. Guardians must pay the program fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Program Information

Programs and classes begin promptly at the scheduled start time. A small grace period may be allowed for the first class as participants find their way. If you need time to change or get ready, please arrive early so classes can start on time.

When you arrive at the Simcoe Woods Community Centre (SWCC), check in at the reception desk. Our Customer Service staff will assist you and direct you to the changerooms, which lead to the gymnasium and/or multi-purpose room.

What to Wear & Bring

We recommend you wear comfortable, breathable clothing and closed-toe athletic shoes. Indoor shoes are a requirement for all programs to protect the floors and keep the space clean. For dance programs, specific shoes (e.g., ballet slippers) are welcome but not required.

SWCC provides yoga mats, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Jewelry Workshops – All materials are provided
Drawing Classes – Required Materials:
  • Drawing pad (minimum 9” × 12”)
  • Drawing pencil set (2H to 8B)
  • Kneaded eraser and gum eraser
  • Reference Photo
Watercolour Classes – Required Materials:
  • Paper towels or an old cloth (for blotting brushes)
  • Apron or old shirt (watercolour can stain)
Optional but Helpful:
  • Notebook or sketchbook (for notes and practice sketches)
  • A small board or clipboard (if you like taping paper down)
**Watercolour paper, paints and brushes will be provided but you may bring your own if you prefer**

 

Yes! While SWCC has water fountains and refill stations, we encourage participants to bring a refillable water bottle. For younger participants, please label bottles to avoid mix-ups.

Preschool & Children's Programs

For children’s programs (ages 7–14), a parent/guardian must sign out participants with a photo ID. Only authorized adults listed on the registration may sign out.
For preschool programs (ages 4–6), parents/guardians must remain onsite for the duration of the program.

Cancellations, Closures & Make-Ups

Programs do not run on statutory holidays and may be canceled for facility events. Program specific cancellation dates are listed in the Recreation Program Guide.

If an unplanned cancellation occurs due to instructor absence or circumstances beyond our control (e.g., maintenance, power outage):

  • Less than 24 hours notice: We will call participants.
  • More than 24 hours notice: We will email registered participants and post updates on our website and social channels.

If the program is canceled by us, we’ll offer a make-up class when possible or apply a credit/refund according to our policy.

Attendance, Refunds & Transfers

All withdrawal requests must be emailed to jgrubb@oro-medonte.ca.

  • 7 days or more before program start: Full refund, no administration fee.
  • 6 days or less before program start: Full refund, less $25 administration fee.
  • After 1st class, before 2nd class: Pro-rated refund, less $25 administration fee.
  • After the start of the 2nd class: No refund.

There is no requirement to notify us if you miss a class. Our recreational programs are designed so participants can easily pick up where they left off without worrying about missed content.

If you know in advance that you’ll be away, you’re welcome to let your instructor know, but it’s completely optional.
