Pitch-In Week: Help Keep Oro-Medonte Beautiful

The Township of Oro-Medonte encourages members of the community to participate in Pitch-In Week, taking place from Monday, April 20 to Sunday, April 26, 2026!

Any members of the public interested in participating in local clean-up projects at Township roadsides, green-spaces, parks or trails can pick up garbage bags and gloves free of charge from the Township Administration Centre (148 Line 7 South) or the Simcoe Woods Community Centre (737 Horseshoe Valley Road W.).

For a larger events, please email recreation@oro-medonte.ca with your event details so that Township staff can help coordinate appropriate number of supplies and garbage drop off.

Disposal of Clean-Up Waste

Waste collected through the Pitch-In Week initiative can be disposed of at three (3) locations across the Township:

1.  Bayview Memorial Park (687 Lakeshore Road, East)
2. Oro-Medonte Community Arena (71 Line 4 North, Oro-Medonte)
3. Simcoe Woods Community Centre (737 Horseshoe Valley Road W.)

Please note: This is a community initiative to help keep our beloved green-spaces, parks, and trails clean. These disposal sites are not for weekly personal household garbage/waste. 

Safety Reminders

A safety tips sheet will be provided with the pick-up of garbage bags & gloves.

• Ensure the use of Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves (provided) or a litter grabber when picking up litter
• Cleanups should take place during daylight hours
• Be mindful of unstable or slippery ground
• Attempt to stay away from fast-moving or rising water (i.e., rivers, streams, and shorelines)
• Consider wearing a safety vest or brightly coloured clothing if collecting litter along a roadway
• Do not pick up dangerous materials such as glass, barbed wire, syringes/needles, medical waste, pipes, chemicals and debris with sharp or rusted edges. Instead, note down the item and the location, and after your cleanup, contact Township staff at recreation@oro-medonte.ca to make them aware
