Joint Compliance Audit Committee

Are you interested in participating in community service and making a substantial contribution to your municipality?

The County of Simcoe has formed a Joint Compliance Audit Committee with local municipalities as required under the Municipal Elections Act. We are seeking a maximum of seven (7) qualified residents within the geographic area of the County of Simcoe to serve as members of the Joint Compliance Audit Committee regarding election finances filed with the Clerks of the County’s 16 member municipalities and the City of Orillia.

The Joint Compliance Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing compliance audit applications submitted by an elector who believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate or third party advertiser has contravened the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act relating to campaign or advertising finances.

The following are excluded from being members of the Committee:

  1. Employees or Officers of the local municipality or local board
  2. Members of Council or a local board
  3. Any persons who are candidates in the 2026 Municipal Election
  4. Any persons who are registered third parties for the 2026 Municipal Election

All interested applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of interest outlining your qualifications to the undersigned prior to June 5, 2026. Applicants with experience in accounting, auditing and legal, as well as knowledge of campaign financing rules would be an asset.
