Heat Warning: Cooling Centres Open

With high temperatures expected this week, the Township will be opening cooling centres to help residents stay comfortable Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Locations:

  • Administration Building (148 Line 7 South)
  • Simcoe Woods Community Centre (737 Horseshoe Valley Road W)
  • Hawkestone Community Hall (3 Allen Street)
  • Eady Community Hall (73 Eady Station Road)

Residents are welcome to drop in and use these spaces to cool down.

What to Bring:

  • Refillable water bottles
  • Reading materials
  • Games or quiet activities

Wi‑Fi is available at the Administration Building and Simcoe Woods Community Centre.

Take Precaution

Residents are encouraged to take the following precautions during periods of extreme heat:
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
  • Limit strenuous outdoor activities, particularly during the hottest part of the day.
  • Seek air-conditioned or shaded spaces whenever possible.
  • Check in on family members, friends, and neighbours who may be more vulnerable to the effects of extreme heat, including older adults.
Residents are also encouraged to ensure pets have access to fresh water and adequate shade or air-conditioning.
The Township will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates, as they become available. For additional weather updates, residents may monitor The Government of Canada's Weather Forecasting System.
