2026 Street Sweeping
Street sweeping is an important program that clears our storm drainage systems and ditches, improves stormwater runoff quality, and limits dust, thereby improving air quality.
The street sweeping program starts in a different area of the Township each year to ensure that streets in any one area are not always swept last. This year, the program will commence on May 4, 2026, in Warminister, Prices Corners (North Zone 1), and Shanty Bay, Barrie Corner (South Zone 1), then proceed to Zones 2, followed by Zones 3 and 4, with rural zones completed after the residential areas. Progress updates are available on the Township's website and social media channels.
If any sand is raked from ditches and placed at the edge of the road, the crew will pick it up as they pass by. All Zone 1 residents should have this completed by May 3, 2026. We cannot provide exact timing for zone completion, so we ask that all residents in other zones who wish to have sand picked up place it on the shoulder by May 10, 2026. Please note that the Township does not remove sand from driveways or ditches. Any sand placed on the road after the crew has been to your area will not be picked up.
- Keep sand piles small and placed on the shoulder/edge of the road (not on the travelled portion of the roadway).
- Do not mix sand with leaves, branches, garbage, or other debris—mixed material cannot be collected.
- Sand placed out after the sweeper has passed your area will not be picked up.
Please note: sweeping schedules are weather dependent and may change due to operational requirements.
