Declaration of Significant Weather Event

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement across much of Southern Ontario indicating a Yellow Warning for cold temperatures and snow squalls forecasted for our area. These conditions are favorable for the development of low visibility due to blowing snow and high snow accumulation. As a result, the Township of Oro-Medonte is declaring this Significant Weather Event under O. Reg 239/02 effective January 23, 2026, 12:00pm until further notice.

Township Facility Closures Due to Weather Conditions

Due to severe weather conditions and multiple road closures, please note the following Township facility closures for Friday, January 23rd:

  • Township Administration Centre will be closing at 3:00 p.m.
  • Oro-Medonte Community Arena closed effective immediately for the day/evening
  • Simcoe Woods Community Centre closed effective immediately for the day/evening for programming. Children participating in the PM Play Club will need to be picked up from school at the end of the school day.
