Flood Warning: Being Prepared - April 16, 2026

The Township of Oro-Medonte is advising residents that multiple flood-related alerts are currently in effect across the region. The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) has issued a Shoreline Hazard Watch - High Risk for the Lake Simcoe watershed until April 29, 2026.

Rainfall combined with flows working through the system continue to drive lake levels upward. These higher-than-average water levels are already causing flooding in some areas and are posing a significant risk of flooding along the Lake Simcoe Shoreline. Depending on the wind conditions, there may be localized storm surge/seiche effects, leading to increased flooding.

Township Operations crews are taking necessary steps to prepare for potential flooding. Residents with properties in vulnerable flood-prone areas are encouraged to prepare and stay informed by visiting:

Safety Reminders

  • Stay away from fast-moving or rising water (i.e. rivers, streams, and shorelines)
  • Closely supervise children and pets near water
  • Avoid attempting to walk or drive through moving water
  • Monitor local conditions and check for updates regularly
  • Take steps to protect vulnerable properties in flood-prone areas
