2025-2026 Multi-Year Budget Approved
Oro-Medonte Council has unanimously passed the Township’s 2025-2026 multi-year budget, that reflects the Strategic Plan, community input on budget priorities, service modernization, and addressing evolving service requirements, while increasing contributions to reserve funds to ensure the sustainability of the Township’s infrastructure.
The net property tax increases for 2025 and 2026 are 4.07% and 3.98% respectively, and are inclusive of the County of Simcoe, School Boards, and the Township. This equates to an annual increase of $40.00 for 2025 and 2026 per $100,000 of property assessment.
To address historical infrastructure reserve funding shortfalls, Council is increasing contributions to reserves to stabilize the future integrity of capital infrastructure requirements. Budget surpluses from the previous two years have also been committed to the capital reserves.
Staff and Council are also cautious of the current economic climate and uncertainty, which includes consideration of spending an estimated $6.5 million on ice-storm cleanup, and the potential recovery of these costs.
Mayor Greenlaw commented that “Council and staff are aware and understanding of significant cost of living increases facing Oro-Medonte residents and business owners, and the current uncertainty within the economy. With this in mind, we worked hard to deliver a multi-year budget that is well prepared, professionally deliberated, and fiscally responsible, while still delivering quality services and programs to our community. The 2025-2026 budget positions the Township well to continue with modernization initiatives, addressing evolving service requirements, and ensuring the sustainability of existing infrastructure through infrastructure renewal funding. Taking a balanced approach, the budget ensures the Township’s reserve funding is effectively managed and maintained, positioning Oro-Medonte now and into the future. On behalf of Council and staff, thank you to everyone who participated in the budget process. Your feedback was invaluable, essential, and greatly appreciated.”
