​Canine (Dog) Control

The Municipal Law Enforcement Division is responsible for the enforcement of the Canine (dog) Control By-law.

As part of the enforcement of these By-laws, Township Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will investigate dog attacks/bites and when necessary, proceed accordingly under By-law No. 2018-005 or the Dog Owner's Liability Act. Any dog that is found running at large will be retrieved by t​he Municipal Law Enforcement Officers and may be impounded at, Heartland Kennel facilities 336 Line 5 North, Oro-Medonte, 705-487-2660. A Canine Release Form is to be obtained from the Township prior to Heartland Kennel being permitted to release any impounded dog.

The Township's Municipal Law Enforcement Officers are available 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Municipal Law Enforcement staff can be reached by contacting the Township office at (705) 487-2171.
