home to 20,078 residents, a number that increased by 9.6% over the ten year period of 2001-2011. Provincial projections indicate that the Township is expected to grow to 27,000 residents (a further 34% or nearly 7,000 residents) by 2031.
Age Characteristics: According to the most recent Census data, the median age of the population in Oro-Medonte is 45 years old, which is more than 3 years older than the median level reported for the County of Simcoe and nearly 5 years older than the provincial median.
Language: Oro-Medonte is a predominantly English-speaking community, with approximately 90% of the population identifying themselves as "English only" in the
2011 Census. Though only 1% of the Township's population are French or French/English speaking, Oro-Medonte's proximity to the community of Penetanguishene (where nearly 14% of the population is French or French/English speaking) provides a readily available supply of Francophone labour within a reasonable commute.
Income: According to the
2006 Census, the median income of families living in the Township is $73,962, which is nearly 7% higher than the median levels reported for the County of Simcoe ($69,263) and the Province of Ontario as a whole ($69,156).
