Role of the Clerk

  • To record, without note or comment, all resolutions, decisions and other proceedings of the council;
  • If required by any member present at a vote, to record the name and vote of every member voting on any matter or question;
  • To keep the originals or copies of all by-laws and of all minutes of the proceedings of the council;
  • To perform the other duties required under this Act or under any other Act; and
  • To perform such other duties as are assigned by the municipality.

In addition to the statutory duties, the Clerk's Office is responsible for:

  • Preparation and circulation of agendas, minutes and related materials for Council and its Advisory Bodies
  • Administering legislative requirements pursuant to various Acts
  • Processing and issuing Lottery Licenses
  • Administering the Corporate Records Management Program
  • Administering requests to purchase Township owned lands​

Temporary Liquor License Patio Extension​​​

The Government of Ontario has amended Regulation 746/21 under the Liquor Lice​nse and Control Act, 2019 establishing a new framework for temporary outdoor physical extensions (temporary patios), which took effect on January 1, 2023. Effective January 1, 2023, individual municipalities and First Nations Band Councils: 

  • Have the authority to approve temporary patios for up to eight months total in a calendar year (does not need to be eight consecutive months) for liquor sales licensees and by-the-glass endorsement holders;
  • Have the option to approve for less than eight months, if they wish;
  • Have the authority to specify conditions on the approval​​.​
