Special Event Management Process
Council Grants 2016 Special Event Permits for Burl’s Creek
On July 6, 2016, Township Council granted two special events permits to BCEG Inc. for the 2016 festival season. One permit is for the 2016 WayHome festival (July 22-24) and the other permit is for the 2016 Boots and Hearts festival (Aug. 4-7). Both permits apply to the 92 acres of Burl’s Creek Event Grounds zoned for special events.
Operational Plans and Public Safety
The Township’s Special Event Management Process requires that every property owner / special event organizer submit an Operational Plan. BCEG Inc. and Republic Live submitted 2015 and 2016 Operational Plans for the WayHome, and Boots and Hearts festivals.
These plans outline how the two companies will manage public health and safety concerns such as traffic, security, emergency services, food services and safety, and water/wastewater.
Special Event Manual
The special event manual was developed by the Township to help property owners, event organizers and other parties comply with the Township’s Special Events Management Process.
Special Event By-law
The purpose of the Township’s
special events by-law is to “ensure cooperation among the various agencies involved in and affected by special events in order to:
- Enhance the quality of life for residents
- Further tourism and economic development
- Protect public health and safety and
- Minimize unnecessary disruptions in the community.
