Council

Council meetings are generally held on the first, second and fourth Wednesday of the month in the Council Chambers at the Township Administration Centre.

Special meetings of Council may be called, as required, and the agendas for any such meetings will be posted as soon as possible.

Closed sessions of Council may be conducted and closed to the public if the subject matter to be discussed relates to:

• The security of the property of the municipality;
• Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal employees;
• The proposed or pending acquisition/disposition of land by the municipality;
• Labour relations or employee negotiations;
• Litigation or potential litigation affecting the municipality, including matters before administrative tribunals;
• Advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose;
• A matter in respect of which a council, committee or other body may hold a closed meeting under another Act;
• The consideration of a request under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection to Privacy Act, if the Council is designated as the head of the institution for the purposes of the Act;
• The education or training of the members; provided that no member discusses or otherwise deals with any matter in a way that materially advances the business or decision making of the Council or committee.
